Job Description

Mō te tūranga | About the Role

As General Manager, you will be responsible for the operational and strategic leadership of Grace Hospital. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, you’ll drive business performance, oversee hospital operations, and lead a high-performing senior management team. This role is pivotal in shaping the future of Grace Hospital, ensuring it remains a benchmark for excellence in the healthcare industry. 

 

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute operational and strategic plans that align with the hospital’s vision and values.
  • People Management: Inspire and lead an experienced team of senior managers, fostering collaboration and a culture of accountability.
  • Operational Excellence: Oversee hospital performance, ensure efficient resource utilization, and deliver exceptional patient care outcomes.
  • Business Development: Drive growth by developing new services, fostering strong relationships with consultants, and managing customer acquisition strategies.
  • Clinical Governance: Maintain the highest standards of clinical care, ensuring compliance with all licensing and accreditation requirements.
  • Cultural Competence: Actively engage with mana whenua and embrace the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi to foster inclusivity and equity in care.

 

 Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and Experience

  • A tertiary qualification in Health Service Management or Business Management (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Extensive experience managing a complex healthcare facility, ideally in the private sector.
  • Proven ability to lead transformational change and motivate teams to achieve ambitious goals.
  • Strong experience in business development, operational excellence, and financial management.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and strong relationships across diverse stakeholders.
  • A commitment to continuous improvement, innovation, and cultural competence.
